He landed a few supporting roles in the US during the late 60s and early 70s, but he struggled to land larger roles in a Hollywood that was largely dominated by white actors. Lee returned to Hong Kong where he found more success and got his first starring role in The Big Boss . The commercial success of the film propelled him to stardom and he continued to appear in several more films, before he also became involved in writing, directing, and choreographing fight scenes.
